"Big Red Circle" by Sam Stevens at Original Ink Art |
Hello again, everyone and welcome to another instalment of
DNA, where we take a look at talented contemporary artists we have came across
in our travels. Today I would like to introduce you to Sam Stevens, a London
based ink artist who runs OriginalInkArt on Etsy.
Sam takes a unique organic approach to each of his artworks.
He uses line formations to dictate the journey of the shapes to create abstract
vistas which feel dynamic and raw. This self taught natural approach creates
artworks that stand out from the masses.
There is no set subject matter. The shapes, lines and
patterns are drawn from nature. The petals of a flower, the feathers of a wing,
the vines around a tree can all be seen within these wonderful pieces giving
them a dream like familiarity.
"Triangle Abstract" |
To create his works Sam uses a 0.25mm Copic multiliner sp, a
Copic Ciao R64 super brush and Daler Rowney A4 graphic series drawing paper.
Sam’s style of striking heavy black lines draws you in and
the shapes and patterns he creates immerses you in his world. The viewer
follows the flow of the underlying geometric shape. Each art work is brought to
life with a single colour which adds depth and form to the abstract design.
If you would like to know more about Sam Stevens incredible
ink drawings take a look at his shop on Etsy.

Check back next week when we will be bringing you more
amazing artists that the world has to offer.
So until next time, thanks for stopping by!
